Our weekend flew by of course, but not before making some progress on Hunter's nursery. We arrived Friday afternoon and immediately started clearing out my brother's then office. Off to the paint store we went to pick out a paint color and gather supplies to transform the room while my brother stayed behind and put the crib together that had literally just arrived. Too bad the springs were broken so we couldn't fully assemble it.
Here's the bedding we scored a great deal on!
Painting was a group effort that night after we had a blast at Pappadeaux and full bellies. The next morning "A" and I got up at 7:30 and started cracking. We made a ton of progress that morning and surprised Aunt Heidi when she woke up. Here's what she saw:
The dresser will go on this wall with the items currently sitting on the floor. There's the adorable elephant lamp I spoke of too. All it needs is a little ribbon detail.
We are also considering some tree decals on this large wall flanking the dresser.
We originally chose an upholstered glider on the design board, but space is limited so we decided it would be more sentimental and fitting to use my grandparent's rocker that they used to rock my dad and his siblings. My brother is going to refinish it in a cream color.
We also worked on refinishing a night stand that goes next to the closet on the back wall you can't see. It was actually outside drying when we left yesterday.
We will head back to Houston in the next month or 2 to finish things up and make all the final touches. At least for now, it looks like a babies nursery and most of the big tasks are behind us. Here's what's left to do:
- Window covering
- Drapery
- Rug
- Decals
- Dresser/style/organize
- Style night stand
- Remianing Art (have it and forgot to take it) :(
- Letters above bed
Can't wait to finish up and share the rest with you all!
